Intel® Open Network Platform (Intel® ONP)

Accelerating SDN and NFV network transformation

The Intel® Open Network Platform

The Intel® Open Network Platform (Intel® ONP) comprises four initiatives to advance open solutions for network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN):

  • Consortia Participation
    Advances open source community work

  • Open Reference Designs
    Expands product development

  • Intel® Network Builders
    Enables an open NFV/SDN ecosystem

  • POC and Trials Collaboration
    Accelerates market adoption

Through these initiatives, Intel is enabling network transformation, and facilitating the delivery and deployment of flexible and low total cost of ownership (TCO) products to telecom, cloud, and enterprise customers.

Contributions to open source projects and standards such as Open vSwitch*, DPDK*, OpenStack*, and OpenDaylight* have played a key role in how the development of Intel ONP Server; open-source code developed as part of the Intel ONP Server initiative, is communicated through the communities.

The Intel® Open Network Platform Server (Intel® ONP Server) is a server reference architecture (not a commercial product) that brings together key hardware and open software. These ingredients are optimized for network functions virtualization (NFV), and software-defined networking (SDN) in Telecom, Enterprise, and Cloud markets.

Intel ONP Server provides engineering guidance and ecosystem enablement to speed up the development and adoption of NFV and SDN projects.
