Why does the Quartus II software version 11.1SP2 not report the value of VCC and VCCP for Arria V devices?

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

The PowerPlay Power Analyzer tool in the Quartus® II software version 11.1SP2 groups VCCP (VCC Peripheral) with VCC (VCC Core) in Arria® V devices. The total power consumption for VCC and VCCP is correct in the PowerPlay Power Analyzer report.

    Resolution

The Early Power Estimator (EPE) version 11.1sp2 for Arria V devices separates VCC and VCCP. To properly estimate power for VCC and VCCP for your design, do the following:

    1. Generate the PowerPlay Early Power Estimator file (.csv) in the Quartus II Software in the Project Menu.
    2. In the EPE, click the "Import QII File" button to import this file.

Refer to the report tab in the EPE to see the separate values for VCC and VCCP.

Version 12.0 of the Quartus II software separates VCC and VCCP in the PowerPlay Power Analyzer report.
