Why are multiple IOSS CALBUS messages printed to stdout instead of being redirected to a file during External Memory Interfaces Intel Agilex® 7 FPGA IP simulation?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem with a new External Memory Interfaces Intel Agilex® 7 FPGA IP simulation model introduced in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.1, IOSS CALBUS messages are not redirected to a file (like in previous versions of the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software).

Therefore, you will see multiple IOSS CALBUS messages being printed to stdout.

    Resolution

To work around this problem, you can revert to an older simulation model by setting the ed_sim.emif_cal.emif_cal.emif_cal.arch_inst.io_ssm.iossm_use_model parameter to 0 (as described in the External Memory Interfaces Intel Agilex® 7 FPGA IP User Guide).

This problem is fixed starting with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.2.
