The pilot in command (PIC) is the final decision maker for flight conditions and will prioritize safety first. In general, conditions should be clear in order to optimize for a great audience viewing experience.

We can perform a drone light show in winds up to 7 m/s (25 km/h), or just under 16 mph.

When we work with the client on a drone light show, we are constantly monitoring wind and weather patterns weeks and days ahead of the show date. This enables Intel to work with clients to plan for contingencies. A cancellation that happened due to weather is not refundable.

It is best practice to plan 2-3 months before your desired show date, but we have done it in a matter of weeks. The timing from planning a drone light show to execution can vary from one customer to the other. Long lead items may include drone shipments, aviation authorizations, and other permitting requirements.

The animation time averages about 5 minutes. The time it takes for the drones to launch and travel to the show position, and return to their landing area is roughly 3 minutes. This can vary based on the distance from the airfield to the show location.

There are options to prolong the drone light show and animation time. Please contact us and an Intel sales rep will engage with you.

The answer differs by country and depends on the regulation set by the aviation authorities. In the US, the height is 400 feet above ground level. If it is necessary to fly higher to optimize viewing for the audience or to avoid obstruction, Intel can look into applying for some waivers or exceptions. We have flow up to 1,000 feet, or just over 300 meters.

The pricing packages listed on the website indicate the starting price for the stated number of drones. Shipment cost, travel and lodging for the Intel operations team, and infrastructure build-out are additive to the list price.

The space needed is based on the number of drones desired for the drone light show. At a minimum, the site space will be about 25m x 45m with secured fencing around the launch area. The minimum airspace required is 340m x 300m, which includes a double geo-fence and exclusion zones for safety.

Intel adheres to rules and regulations set forth by aviation authorities. Generally, aviation authorities do not allow for flights over people. 

Once we understand your location and airspace, we will work with you to acquire the necessary permits and authorization to fly the drone light show for your event.  In cases where the desired site is not possible, Intel will work with you on other location options that would be more favorable to getting the necessary aviation permits.

The Intel® Shooting Star™ drones are designed specifically for drone light shows. Therefore, they don’t carry anything other than an LED to light up the sky. There are no cameras or other sensors that capture or store data.

Absolutely! In addition to synching our drone light show to audio tracks, we have also worked with live orchestra, recording artists in concert, and more.

Intel drone light shows have been incorporated into other elements of live entertainment. We have performed drone light shows alongside pyrotechnics and fireworks, laser lights, 3D projection mapping, and to music by a live orchestra and in concerts and music festivals with recording artists.

Intel has a very successful track record acquiring aviation permits globally.

The number of drones in a given light show can vary based on the complexity of the animations, the airspace that is available to work within, and ultimately the budget and desired experience. Intel recommends a minimum of 200 drones. An Intel Sales rep is happy to partner with you to help find a solution that works for you.

We operate according to the rules and regulations set by aviation authorities. Typically, aviation authorities do not allow for drone flights over roads and moving vehicles. If it is necessary to fly over roads, we would work with the client and local authorities to block or close off the roads during show time.

Yes, we have done shows over bodies of water, and even launching drones from platforms over the water.
