Description
Intel® Volume Management Device (Intel® VMD) on Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors is a unique PCIe feature to allow the direct connection of NVMe SSDs to the CPU. Intel VMD Direct Assign is a new use case enabled by the Intel VMD driver ecosystem to improve storage performance in HCI architectures. Now, an Intel VMD Domain and the NVMe SSDs connected to it can be assigned to a Virtual Machine, which bypasses the hypervisor for improved storage performance.
