Note As of July 1, 2023, development on the Intel® Cryo Cooling Technology solution was discontinued. All versions of the software are provided as-is. Functional, security, or other updates will not be provided after December 31, 2023. No support for Intel Core processors 14th Gen will be provided. Check with your auxiliary cooling provider for alternative solutions.

Intel® Cryo Cooling Technology Gen 2 is a unique combination of software, firmware, and hardware that powers advanced subambient coolers designed to maximize PC performance and overclocking.
The Cryo Cooling hardware includes various modes of operation that are indicated by an LED presented in the table below:

Operating Mode Controller LED Indicator Color Status Description
OFF – No Power LED OFF
  • No power connection to hardware.
  • A possible setup misconfiguration, or a visible physical or electrical damage.
  • This may indicate the controller board is defective or USB power is disabled, or power cable is not properly connected.
  • Confirm that all hardware sensors, power cables, fan, pump cable harnesses are correctly connected.
  • Contact your manufacturer for support:
ON - Error Red Solid
  • Unexpected error status
  • Power applied and USB micro-B connection is good.
  • A possible setup misconfiguration, or a visible physical or electrical damage.
  • Confirm that all hardware sensors, power cables, fan, pump cable harnesses are correctly connected.
  • Reinstall Intel® Cryo Cooling Technology software.
  • Contact your manufacturer for support. (See links above.)
ON - Standby Blue Blinking
  • Expected normal functional status.
  • Standby mode [no sub-ambient cooling].
  • Cryo Cooling Technology capabilities are disabled.
  • Cryo Cooling Technology disables sub-ambient cooling.
  • Cryo Cooling radiator fans, and pump to provide typical liquid cooling capability without sub-ambient cooling.
ON - Cryo Green Blinking
  • Expected normal functional status.
  • Cryo Cooling mode [regulated temperature above dew point].
  • Cryo Cooling Technology capabilities are enabled.
  • Cryo Cooling Technology dynamically controls sub-ambient cooling, fans, and pump to provide maximum regulated sub-ambient cooling to avoid condensation on CPU heatsink surfaces.

ON - Diagnostic

Yellow Blinking (Cryo Gen2 HW)

OR

 Purple Blinking (Cryo Gen1 HW)

  • Diagnostic Test.
  • This Built-in Self-Test (BIST) confirms expected Cryo hardware power and sensor connection and functionality.
  • Results displayed, while final temperature is expected to be less than initial temperature.
  • Any results/errors are logged.
  • Visit How to Run a Diagnostic Test on my Cryo Cooling Technology for more info.
ON - Unregulated Purple Blinking
  • Expected normal functional status.
  • Cryo Cooling Mode [Unregulated temperature may create condensation].
  • Cryo Cooling Technology capabilities are enabled.
  • This mode allows users to force the sub-ambient cooler to maximum power state (within device safety limits) increasing condensation risk on processor heatsink surfaces and surrounding areas. This can cause permanent system damage. See Note box below.

Caution
  • Unregulated mode may cause condensation, which could result in an electrical short circuit that can cause damage to your computer or create a safety hazard.
  • To minimize this risk, confirm the provided Cryo Cooler processor is securely installed to form an airtight seal between the motherboard and the cooler water block.
  • Continuous monitoring is required on any system or component surface to safely and immediately remove wetness by a clean wick/dry material.
  • By using unregulated mode, user acknowledges and accepts all the risks associated with operating in this mode.
